Balloon delivery: what to know
What the job involves, what changes the price, and what to ask a pro.
What balloon delivery is
A balloon delivery service brings a prepared bundle or bouquet of helium balloons to a home, office or event, often with a card or small gift attached. People use it for birthdays, get well wishes, promotions and surprises when they cannot be there in person.
Signs you need it
- The recipient lives or works too far away for you to deliver the balloons yourself
- You want balloons to arrive at a set time for a surprise or a celebration
- You need a bouquet delivered to an office during working hours
- You want a message or small gift attached to the balloons
- You are sending balloons to an event where the venue has a delivery window
What the pro does
- Takes your order with the colors, the message and the delivery address
- Inflates and ties the balloons into a bundle or bouquet on the day
- Attaches the card, the gift or the ribbon you asked for
- Confirms the delivery window and the recipient's contact details
- Delivers the bundle to the address and leaves it at the agreed spot
- Sends a delivery confirmation or photo if the service offers one
What changes the price
Every job is different, so we do not publish prices. These are the things that move the quote up or down.
- Number of balloons and the size of the bundle
- Whether helium is included and how long the balloons must stay full
- Custom printing, foil shapes or letters
- Attached gifts, such as candy, flowers or a plush toy
- Distance to the delivery address and the time of day
- Whether the delivery is to a home, an office or a venue with check in rules
What a written quote should spell out
- The balloon count, colors, sizes and any special shapes
- Whether helium and the ribbon or weight are included
- The delivery address, the window and whether an attendee must receive it
- What is attached, such as a card, a gift or a message
- What happens if the recipient is not home or the venue refuses delivery
Questions to ask before you hire
- Can I see photos of bundles you have delivered in the color I want?
- How long will the balloons stay full after delivery?
- Can you deliver to an office or venue with a front desk, and how does that work?
- What happens if the recipient is not home at the delivery window?
- Can you add a card with my message, and can I see the wording before it goes out?
- Do you offer latex free balloons if someone in the household has a latex allergy?
Red flags
- Cannot say how long the balloons will stay full
- Will not confirm the delivery window in writing
- Asks for payment with no order summary showing the balloon count and colors
- Has no photos of past deliveries in the style you ordered
- Refuses to share the name of the company that will make the delivery
What you can do yourself
You can buy a balloon bundle from a store and attach a card yourself, if the recipient is nearby and can receive the balloons at a time you choose. Hire a delivery service when the recipient is far away, the balloons must arrive at a set time, or the bundle needs to be inflated and tied on the day.
Licenses and permits
No license is usually required to deliver balloons. Ask whether the service is a registered business and whether it carries insurance for its drivers and deliveries.
Balloon delivery questions
Can balloons be delivered to a hospital or a school?
Ask the service first. Hospitals and schools often have their own rules for flowers and balloons, and delivery may need to go through a front desk or office.
Can I send balloons with a surprise inside?
Yes, many services can attach a small gift or a card. Ask whether the item is safe for the recipient's age, and confirm there are no small parts for young children.
What if the balloons arrive deflated?
Take a photo and contact the service the same day. A good service will replace the bundle or explain what went wrong.
