Our content guidelines
How our guides are drafted and checked, what goes into every guide, what never does, and how to report a mistake.
How a guide is made
Our service guides are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then checked against our written rules before they are published. Each guide is reviewed for accuracy against trade practice and official sources, and corrected when something is wrong.
Guides in the trades we know best, plumbing, heating and cooling, and electrical, are reviewed by people who have done the work. Where a guide has been reviewed by a named person, the page says so.
What every guide must do
- Describe the job as it is actually done, with the real parts, tools and steps.
- Tell you what changes the price of the job, without quoting a price.
- Give you questions to ask and warning signs to watch for before you hire.
- Say plainly when work is dangerous, needs a licensed pro or needs a permit.
- Point you to your state or local licensing agency to check a license yourself.
What a guide never includes
- Prices, price ranges or averages. We do not know what pros in your area charge, and a national average sets the wrong expectation.
- Made-up statistics, studies or quotes.
- Step-by-step instructions for dangerous work such as gas, live electrical, structural or asbestos work.
- Legal, tax, financial or medical advice. Guides in those areas tell you to rely on a licensed professional, and they stay out of search engines until a licensed person has reviewed them.
Reviewed by pros
Pros who offer a service on infinibell can review its guide section by section. We check every correction before it goes live. Approved reviewers are named on the guide and linked to their profile. A reviewer is a member of infinibell, and we say so next to their name.
Found a mistake?
Use Report a mistake at the bottom of any guide, or tell us through Support with the page and what is wrong. We check it, tell the guide's reviewers, and correct the guide.
